We are so proud to share another fantastic success story about our pupils’ successfully completing alternative education placements with external training providers.
This month, we are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of one of our Year 11 pupils who, for the last two years, has been completing construction training at Preston Vocational Centre (PVC).
As a not-for-profit charity, PVC offers high-quality vocational training in construction to young people and adults. Providing hands-on learning in a range of trades from bricklaying and joinery to plumbing and plastering, the centre supports its learners to achieve Level 1 City & Guilds qualifications.
Since Year 9, our pupil has attended PVC once a week to learn more about the various construction trades and has since developed a passion for plastering. Being at PVC has supported our pupil to achieve her extended certificate in construction skills and it has been a joy to witness her confidence grow with every visit.
Over the course of the two-year placement, our pupil has demonstrated a genuine desire to succeed and her enthusiasm to achieve her extended certificate has been commendable. With an excellent attendance record, our pupil has truly impressed tutors at PVC, especially the diligence she has demonstrated in her learning.
Laura Porter, support assistant at Preston Vocational Centre, said: “This pupil has really excelled herself and is our best achieving learner. She is now aiming to secure an apprenticeship in plastering when she leaves school in the summer.”
This pupil’s positive mindset and drive to succeed have not only supported her development at PVC, but it has also had a positive impact on her personal and academic progress while in school too.
We are so proud of this pupil’s commitment to complete her extended certificate and are looking forward to hearing all about her plastering career!
